Headteacher's welcome
I am proud to be part of a school that develops children's learning, skills, confidence and lives. Living locally myself, I understand the uniqueness and beauty of our location and Bawdsey school promotes this with the children through Forest schools, Beach schools, local visits to amazing places of beauty (geographically and historically), through gardening and cooking the school-grown produce.
Families often attend our school because of the family feeling, the individual attention the children receive and the wide array of extra opportunities we provide and give to our pupils, which includes support for their families too. We feel no one should feel like an outsider when they are with us, and we are all part of the community.
We are always improving our practice for our pupils - even though we have been consistently graded as good with outstanding elements for Ofsted and SIAMs. At Bawdsey school the staff always want to give the best opportunities we can to the pupils, they give extra time and attention to the families as many have had their own children at the school too.
Being considered a smaller school, we want children to develop five main things when they are with us, so they become confident and outward-looking global citizens. We aim for the children to be courageous, resilient, caring, to want to explore and to know they are equal with others in the world. We have designed our curriculum and our school offer to reflect these aims for our vision. Looking beyond our remote location, we aim to increase the children's cultural capital, as well as their understanding of the diversity in the UK and the wider world.
We welcome visits to the 'Hidden gem on the Peninsula' (Bawdsey parent).
