Bawdsey School Association

This is our school’s PTA, and did you know when you have a child at the school you are then an automatic member. There is a real need for more parents/ carers to help, active members have decreased significantly during the last few years with COVID.

You can help in the following ways:

  • Attend a meeting and think of fundraising ideas.
  • Attend a meeting and think of extra opportunities for the children to fundraise for.
  • Attend a meeting and help to decide what the fundraising is spent on.
  • Attend meetings and have a role on the committee.
  • Spend an hour helping prepare for an event or by being on a stall.
  • Collect some prizes for a raffle.
  • Shop for food items for a disco or coffee morning.
  • Sell some raffle tickets.
  • Make a poster.
  • Deliver some leaflets or posters.
  • Contact the local press.
  • Clean up after an event.

Even a little help goes a long way, here are some of the things the BSA have funded:

  • Travel for each class to go on a trip each year, so there were no costs passed onto parents.
  • Wish lists in class for resources needed or wanted; including new books for Turtles and cameras for the children to use in Starfish class.
  • The boat to play on in the playground.
  • New phonic books in EYFS.
  • A blow up planetarium.
  • Forest School and playtime equipment.

… and many, many more things. (It may be worth noting the average school trip cost is between £12 and £20 per pupil and we will have to pass this cost onto families if the BSA cannot continue to help us- sometimes there is a trip each term for each child.)

Thank you to all those who support us in offering raffle prizes.

Bawdsey School Association is like a Parent Teacher Association. The reason ours is called the Association (BSA) instead is because we want to include and recognise the large number of past-parents, grandparents and local friends that also give of their time to help the school and its children.

The principal aim of the BSA is to fundraise - and the money raised helps to pay for visits, events and activities, or equipment / time / personnel for the many after school clubs.

Fund Raising

Previous funding has paid for: Year 6 BBQ, Film Nights, Outdoor play equipment, Platinum Jubilee gifts, coach to Orford,

Each year funding to given for: Leavers Hoodies, Christmas Crackers, Easter Eggs, Book gifts for the Children at Christmas, Arts and Crafts for Christmas. .

This year's funding has gone to numerous projects such as: Jubilee gifts, books for the Children to use and coach trips,

Other Yearly funding: The Christmas Cracker in December, Discos, Strawberry Fayre, Sponsored Walk, Non-Uniform Days through the year, Film nights throughout the year. Coffee and Cake Sales throughout the year.

As well as fundraising, the BSA also provides a means for parents and friends of the school to get together and share experiences and ideas - as well as welcoming new parents.

Any new BSA activities or events are posted on the BSA whiteboard (opposite the school board at the children's entrance). All the upcoming BSA events will also be posted on this website.

The BSA is always open and warmly welcome any current or new parents who have new ideas or just want to get involved. There is no commitment of you to attend meetings etc and any help is gratefully received. If you are interested please do speak to or contact any of the people above or complete the form below.
